Inventory

Merchant Magic™'s inventory management module is one of the most sophisticated and robust in the industry today.

The ability to view a grid of inventory items while simultaneously viewing the selection details is much appreciated by the retail community.  This is because a retailer is most likely to want to scroll down a list of items in a particular category, for example, and do a cursory overview of its description, price, cost, inventory counts, etc.. The design of the inventory management module allows this often-done task to occur without having to open and close multiple windows to access the information.

A Few of the Most Popular Features are…

The inventory screen shown below is filled with more built-in capabilities than can be discussed in this brief summary of the product.  However, we hope that the features we do present peak your interest sufficiently to warrant you to contact us and find out even more!

Sample Inventory Management Screen

Displayed below is the Inventory Management Screen.  In this example, the user chose to look at all inventory in the categories, “Handguns”.  The yellow grid has found 327 products in the category, handguns.  The user has highlighted the second selection in the grid.  As you can see, the selection details are all shown at right.  The category, handguns, was setup with three user-defined categories shown at the bottom right.  These are Model, Caliber and Action.  The red symbols to the left of the description indicate that these items are required when describing the product.

The enforcement of user-defined required data is also set by the user.  If you do not want the system to enforce the population of the user-defined categories data, you merely state that when setting up that category.

Item Level Sales Restrictions  Ability to designate purchase restrictions at the specific item level.  Merchant Magic™ allows the retailer to restrict the purchase of a product using one or more of the following restriction types:  Age, Name, Address, Driver’s License, Home or Work Number, and/or Social Security Number.  If one or more of these are checked, the system will not complete a sale unless this information is updated at the time of the sale.

% Profit Calculation  The profit calculation, based on cost and price, is displayed in the inventory screen.  This is a security-driven feature and will be invisible to those users with insufficient rights.

Inventory Summary at a Glance  The on-hand New and Used (if applicable) , allocated (Layaways/Special Orders) and Total Value is conveniently displayed as the user scrolls down the list.

Statistics  The Inventory Module displays item-specific statistics such as total sold-to-year, total ever sold, average price, last price, average cost, last cost, etc… These numbers recalculate every time a sale is made, refund, trade-in, etc…

User-Defined Inventory Categories!  Each inventory item can be categorized and described by up to eight user-defined descriptors.  For example, shoe stores may create a category called Running Shoes.  They may then define some descriptors such as Size, Color, Running Type, Gender and Fabric for example.   Then, when a part number, such as A-1234,  is assigned to the category, Running Shoes, that part number can then be described by Sizes, Color, Running Type, Gender and Fabric.   The part number, A-1234 may have Sizes of 6-11, Color of Blue/White, Running Type of Cross Country, Gender of Female, and Fabric of Leather/Mesh.  Reports can then be run against these user-defined categories.  Such reports are essential to view sales performance and to gauge reordering.

Allocated Product!  When an item is placed on layaway, the system tells how many items of that part number are allocated.  In addition, you can view the allocation details to know exactly what is allocated, when it was allocated and to whom it is allocated.
